MOSABO VILLAGE
"There's a miracle in Mosabo" is what Robert Workman says, and for the children who have been able to consistently attend school, they are experiencing the miracle. TIFIE began working with this community in 2007 and has since then provided multiple projects that have affected hundreds of children and families in the community.
Education
When TIFIE first arrived at Mosabo there was a run-down school that was being used to teach 120 children from the surrounding villages. Using Hydraform bricks from Jamaa Construction, TIFIE built a new school building that could house more children. TIFIE also installed a solar power unit on the school that not only provided light to the building and but it also provided an additional income opportunity for the teachers who 'sold' the power to the villagers to charge their phones. The school area is now being used as a community center for weddings, meetings and group events. The second building was donated by a private donor, increasing the amount of students to 300. UNICEF saw its success and built two additional school buildings, now serving over 700 students that attend the Mosabo schools.
Clean Water
Before TIFIE arrived at Mosabo, there was no local source of water for the area. A 12 kilometer hike to the nearest water source was the only option for the woman and children who would carry barrels of head both ways. When TIFIE and UNICEF built the new school buildings they also built a 50,000 liter water cistern to collect rain water from the roofs of the schools. A committee of villagers has been setup to manage the water, providing clean water to 300 school children and 100 families.Clean Water

Employment
Although TIFIE doesn't employ children, we do employ their parents. And that is the biggest effect that children in Mosabo experience from TIFIE projects. Parents who work in the seed multiplication project or in construction on the new road are parents with a consistent income, that can now consistently provide for their children's basic needs.
